We Call It Dementia

Wandering through a maze of thoughts
I consciously seek but one
Attempting to escape
At the speed of light
Through synaptic hideaways
Hijacked by neuronic thieves
That succeed in erasing its very essence

For these are criminals at work
Subjugated by a devious foe
Wishing all our memories to vanish
Vanquishing us to a foggy place
Where we bask in haze
As our light fades from within
No longer shining out but extinguished
We call the villain Dementia.
